Caught on film: Bodhi Genis in Byron Bay

Bodhi Genis in Byron Bay — this is the shoot that changed everything for me.

It was one of my final swim shoots from my first real trip chasing this kind of work. Most of what I shot back then? You’ll never see it. But this shoot with Bodhi, assisted by Elle, felt different from the moment we started. Between the light, the movement, and Bodhi’s quiet confidence in front of the camera, something just clicked.

Looking back, this was the turning point — the shoot that made me want to pursue swim and beach editorials seriously. The work I’ve done since has all been shaped by what I learned that day: how to shoot with intention, how to lean into the elements, how to trust that softness can still have presence.

You can reach out to Bodhi Genis via Instagram, or through her current agency, Viviens Model Management.

A lot of the modelling advice I’ve written also finds its roots in what this shoot taught me — about creative direction, building trust, and finding rhythm in a location that doesn’t need much from you beyond presence.
