A whale of a time in Coolum with Eve Bond

When I planned this shoot with Eve Bond at Coolum, I didn’t realize she’d be driving over 90 minutes to make it happen. She didn’t complain—she just showed up, ready to work, and absolutely nailed it. Honestly, that kind of dedication deserves a medal—or at least a decent cup of coffee, which I regret not offering.

Eve moves beautifully in front of the camera, and working with her felt effortless. From the first frame to the last, she brought energy, grace, and a good sense of humor to the shoot. We even had a mascot for the morning: Henry, the inflatable whale, who joined us for some lighter moments. The final look—a gorgeous purple one-piece from TJ Swim—tied everything together perfectly.

Now, here’s where things got… interesting. In my commitment to capturing behind-the-scenes magic, I managed to drop my phone straight into the sea. RIP to all those BTS clips. The drive to Brisbane afterward to replace it wasn’t exactly on my to-do list, but honestly? Worth it.

This whole shoot was shot entirely on 35mm film with my trusty pair of Canon EOS 3s—one armed with a 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS II and the other with a 24-70mm f/2.8 L II. For anyone curious about the gear I use, you can check out the full list over on the Georges Cameras website. (Disclosure: I work for Georges Cameras, so yes, I am definitely biased—but it’s also a solid list!)

Eve was an absolute dream to work with—professional, easygoing, and just a genuinely great person. If you want to book her (and you should), you can reach out through The Model Agency or find her on Instagram at @eveebond.

Moral of the story? Dedication (on Eve’s part) and a bit of chaos (on mine) make for a memorable shoot. Henry the whale would agree.
