Annie Carter at Elephant Rock: Braving a Lightning Storm
This shoot marked my first time working with Annie Carter, and I was impressed from the start. Although she’s relatively new to the industry, you wouldn’t know it—Annie brought a get-it-done attitude that many seasoned models can’t muster, especially as the clouds set in.
The morning forecast had said that the storm would pass us by, but nature had other plans. A severe wet weather warning hit, and we had a choice as the rain started and thunder rumbled. Despite the relentless rain, Annie powered through like a pro, making it possible to capture three incredible looks before we had to call it a day.
Our location, Elephant Rock on the Gold Coast, provided a dramatic and moody backdrop that added an atmosphere I hadn’t captured before. Annie and I styled things together, except for the blue bikini gifted by Horse and Berries (thank you!). The images are shot entirely on film with Canon Eos 3’s, with light colour and exposure adjustments in the post but no retouching, keeping the look natural and authentic. If you’d like to see what I use, you can find it here on Georges Cameras.
If you want to book Annie Carter, contact her through Chic Brisbane. If you’d like to work with me or support my film photography journey, you can book me here or shout me some film here.
Shooting with someone as new as Annie in such challenging conditions was a risk, but it paid off. Her dedication, adaptability, and ease in front of the camera made the experience memorable and rewarding. I’ll stop yapping. Have a scroll!
