Seashells at Voodoo Point with Soul Orth

Soul Orth reached out to me to organise this shoot, and I was delighted to be able to create something in between the clouds. While I originally wanted to shoot something on the north side of Sydney, as Soul was already driving down quite far, it looked like it would be a little too shady for what we were aiming for. We headed to Voodoo Point between Kurnell and Cronulla and spent a few hours in the afternoon sun taking these shots.

Soul has an incredible summer wardrobe; not much was needed from my kit; almost all the pieces were hers. The orange one-piece is from Gooseberry Seaside while we lay on the beach recliner. The beautiful green striped bikini is from Zulu and Zephyr, with some binoculars I picked up from an opp shop and a bright bottle of sparkling water. The white set is from the incredible local Sydney brand Asta Resort mainly shot in black and white, so in many ways true to colour! The solid green set is from Sommer Swim, paired with the beautiful square Pareo from Soleil Soleil — I had to look up what a Pareo was for this, and whilst similar to a Sarong, they tend to be larger and from a single piece of fabric!

Soul’s wonderful movement and self-confidence come out in these, and I love what we created. While my galleries are usually shot entirely on film, I have supplemented a few digital images I liked at the end (you can guess which ones are in the comments!). It was nice to mix media for a change and still have a level of authenticity to them that I normally find digital lacks; some shots contain minimal retouching (less than five of these images have any editing).

If you love these, you can contact Soul directly on Instagram or email her about working with her, or if you’d like to organise a shoot like this for yourself or a brand you run or work for, you can reach out to me here!
