Floating at Castle Rock: A Dreamy Shoot with Emma Hedley from Scoop Models

At the start of the year, I had the absolute pleasure of working with Emma Hedley from Scoop Models. This shoot was a long time coming—my dear friend Bella Salerno recommended Emma to me over a year ago, and once I saw her profile, I knew I had to make it happen. It took some time to organise, as the best things often do, but it was more than worth the wait.

Emma is an incredible talent. Her freckles, expressive movements, and bubbly, friendly energy make her an absolute dream to work with. Despite her busy schedule (which is no surprise given her look and professionalism), we managed to find a perfect day to head to Castle Rock Beach—a favourite spot of mine.

The shoot included some lighthearted misadventures as we attempted to float on a giant inflatable swan. After nearly passing out trying to blow the thing up, we found ourselves battling the wind to keep our rubber companion from drifting off entirely. But amidst the chaos, we captured some of my all-time favourite images. Between lounging on the rocks and sharing some fresh fruit, Emma’s effortless charm shone through in every frame.

For this shoot, swimwear was provided by Emma. The white and red bikinis came courtesy of sustainable Australian brand bond-eye swim, while the third bikini was from Oysho. The pieces worked beautifully with the soft, natural tones of the Castle Rock backdrop.

All images were shot entirely on 35mm film using my trusty Canon EOS 3 and primarily the 24-70mm f/2.8L II lens, with some close-up work captured on the 100mm macro. As always, there is no retouching or digital manipulation—these images celebrate the authenticity of film photography and the natural beauty of the moment.
