Caught on film — Early rises with Ashleigh Churn

Some mornings are worth the early start, and this sunrise shoot with Ashleigh Churn at Chinamens Beach was one of them. Ash has a natural chemistry with the camera—effortlessly expressive, with a smile that brings so much warmth to every frame. It gave the entire shoot a beautiful, relaxed energy, making every shot feel genuine and full of life. If you’re looking to book her, you can reach out to her directly.

We kicked things off in a matching set from Asta Resort, with the soft golden light making everything feel effortlessly luxe. As the sun crept higher, she switched into a green bikini from Triangl, diving straight into the water—exactly how a morning like this should be spent.

From there, we wandered over to a quiet little spot next to Chinamens Beach, a tucked-away corner that felt like our own. Ash settled into a SunnyLife chair, eating mango and soaking in the light, wearing a bikini from Loleia Swim. We wrapped up with a slow walk down to the Spit Bridge, where she changed into a clean, minimal set from Sir The Label, shifting the energy to something more refined and effortless.

As always, this was shot entirely on 35mm film with my Canon EOS 3. If you’re curious about the tools I use, check out Georges Cameras.

It’s an exciting time as I prepare to launch ONLINE, my new magazine—a place to explore these shoots in a whole new way. If you love my work, you can grab a zine or donate here to help keep these stories coming. If you’re a model and want to be involved, reach out via my booking form. Let’s create something worth remembering.
